The reason for meeting each Wednesday is because of service. We are a service club. We have a motto that says Service above Self. I believe that God designed us to be happiest when we are serving others.
When I think of our service club I first think of all the things our club does in the community, -fund raising, scholarships, money for food banks, literacy, breakfast with Santa, Old Home Day, special projects. The list is long. Then I think of the things we do internationally. Ambassador scholar, matching grants, water projects, polio.
There is a more important aspect of service that is foundational to all aspects of Rotary. It is service to each other. When we attend meetings, we have the opportunity to encourage and inspire one another. When we attend meetings, we build relationships with each other that strengthen ourselves and each other. The most important service we can do is taking the time to understand another member.
